The Year of Faith Begins October 11th
In the Apostolic Letter “Porta Fídei”, Pope Benedict XVI announces the Year of Faith. Indeed, no effort has been spared to reveal the Gospel’s teachings. The Year of Faith, which began on October 11th, will end on November 24th, 2013.
The Year of Faith is presented as a new warning to each one of the children of the Church with the aims of cultivating conscious of faith that is alive, battling it out in order to get to know it more, loyally putting it into practice, as well as compromising ourselves to spread it by communicating to the numerous of people that are yet to know Jesus Christ.
The Year of Faith offers us a splendid occasion to deepen the divine treasure that we have received and promote this virtue in order for it to reach out as far as possible.
The first Christians believed that they too had to have firm faith on Heaven’s grace in order to carry out the mandate of spreading Christ’s teaching throughout the entire world.
The Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith suggests that we taste, once again, the beauty of the faith that we have received from God, and that we put it into practice every day and promote it without thinking about what others may say.
The necessity of preaching out faith does not limit itself to the countries classified as mission lands, but instead, it affects the entire planet.
Let us not be afraid to combat against our surrounding context when it comes to the points that are incompatibles with the Catholic faith, even if that attitude may stir unto us different types of prejudices.
A solid faith that is well grounded upon the Lord; to live faith is also to spread it unto others. Above it all, we must have great faith and assume firm hope for spreading it.
The Apostles, only with the faith in Christ and motivated by a secure and joyous faith, spread around the Earth and promoted the Christian Doctrine worldwide. Do we give testimony of our faith without being intimidated by the difficulties of our context? Faith is a supernatural gift that only God can instill into our souls. We must pray to Him to increase our faith, hope and charity.
Let us become closer to the Holy Mass with a deepened faith, convinced of the Sacrifice of the Cavalry, the Sacrifice that sanctifies and revitalizes us for the battle that each day brings.
For this purpose, the gift of languages is needed, which is obtained when the Holy Spirit is pleaded to with faith as well as when human means are well activated.
Finally, we must distance ourselves from the living strength of sin which can break our faith, fade our hope, and shrivel up our Love (Translated by Gianna Sanchez Moretti).
