Save Sex
The deadly epidemic of AIDS is getting government concern. It is a plague that escapes from human control, since there is no cure for this threatening disease. This virus also spreads. Each day more and more victims are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. It is therefore a challenge to humanity, which is very proud of its technological progress yet incapable of eradicating ill. For this reason, it represents a joke to humans.
A study conducted by the Cleveland Clinic (Ohio, USA) and published by the American Journal of Health Behaviour, demonstrated that the programs of “abstinence until marriage” have been an effective method, and very popular among Cleveland students.
Furthermore, the British Government has decided to launch an ad campaign promoting abstinence as a way of life for teenagers. The Government asserted that sexual education is all that a person must learn in order to live with his or her spouse happily ever after. Sexuality is a precious good, one which we must learn how to value and use correctly in order to live a happy life.
In fact, we have reality: the infamous Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STDs). Condoms are not successful since they are not secure enough to prevent transmissions. Contagious diseases may be transmitted by skin tact, such as Human Papilloma Virus, herpes, and syphilis, which are transmitted even with the use of protection. The long term effects of these diseases generate various types of carcinoma and chronic sexual dysfunction.
After many failures, it is clear that the “safe sex” illusion should be abandoned by strategies aiming to prevent STDs. Instead they should be promoting abstinence. According to a study conducted by “Uganda’s Demografiphic and Health Survey”, 93 percent of Uganda’s population have changed their sexual practice in order to effectively fight the deadly virus.
