Abortar como sea
El pasado 11 de febrero se aprobó en Portugal el referéndum sobre la legalización del aborto a petición durante las 10 primeras semanas del embarazo, aunque más del 45 por ciento de los portugueses crea que no debe autorizarse el aborto "cuando la madre no desea tener un hijo".
La ley portuguesa en vigor ya permite el aborto: en cualquier momento de la gestación, si es el único medio de evitar a la embarazada un peligro de muerte o de lesión física o psíquica grave e irreversible hasta las primeras 12 semanas.
La ley portuguesa no es más restrictiva que la española, pero los supuestos de despenalización admitidos se aplican estrictamente. Las cifras así lo atestiguan: en España se produjeron 85.000 abortos legales en 2005, en Portugal, 906.
En España, el 97 por ciento de los abortos se realizan invocando el riesgo para la salud de la madre. En Portugal, un informe de la Orden de Médicos realizado en 2004 por psiquiatras, afirmaba que no es el embarazo lo que puede causar daños psíquicos. el aborto puede empeorarlos. Sin embargo, todos los partidos reconocen que el aborto es un mal y que nadie quiere encarcelar a las mujeres que abortan.
Ahora, para que pueda haber más abortos realizados al abrigo del sistema nacional de salud se abrirán clínicas privadas, en concreto españolas, pues el gobierno con los hospitales públicos, no podrán atender las peticiones.
Los grupos cívicos, que subrayan que la nueva ley aumentará el número de abortos y el sufrimiento de las mujeres, van a exigir al Estado más apoyo a la maternidad.

The past 11 of February the referendum was approved in Portugal on the legalization of the abortion on demand during the 10 first weeks of the pregnancy, although more of the 45 percent of the Portuguese it believes that the abortion does not have to be authorized “when the mother does not wish to have a son”.

Nevertheless, all the parties recognize that the abortion is badly and that nobody wants to jail to the women who abort.
Now, in order that there could be more realized abortions protected by the national system of health private clinics will be opened, in particular now Spanish, because the government with the hospitals public, will not be able to take care of requests.
Groups civic, that they emphasize that the new law will increase to the number of abortions and the suffering of the women, are going to demand to the State more support to the maternity.
