A Message of Encouragement in Search for Truth and Freedom
Pope Benedict XVI held a historic 3-day trip to Cuba. In the crowded Mass, which was celebrated in Havana, he stated: "If you follow my word, you are truly my disciples; know the truth and the truth shall make you free". The Pope preached for religious freedom with great force, by stating that it is not a privilege but a right. He preached by being faithful to the mandate of his divine founder and proclaimed the gospel. However, in order for him to be able to perform this task, there must be freedom of religion, which allows a faith to be publicly proclaimed and celebrated, that would allow him to carry the message of love, reconciliation and peace that Jesus brought to the world. Moreover, Fidel Castro visited the Pope in the Holy See's nuncio in Havana. It seems that he has become closer to the Catholic faith since he recently received the Anointing of the Sick.

He said that Castro did make policies; the policy of charity that is attached to the Cuban people and that demands justice, dialogue, and fundamental freedoms for all Cubans.
Finally, Cuba must shape virtuous men in order to forge a nation of dignity and freedom. This transformation will depend on the spiritual life of man, for there is no nation without virtue.
