En la lúcida alocución que declamó en el Aula Magna de la Universidad de Ratisbona, el Papa Benedicto XVI hizo unas diáfanas consideraciones sobre la religión y la libertad de la persona, para anunciar la incompatibilidad de la intimidación y la amenaza, para la inculcación, en el ser humano, de la profesión de fe al Islam.
El escritor Juan Manuel de Prada, afirma que: “Una Europa que ha renunciado a defender los principios que se asientan sobre la razón, los principios que fundan su genealogía espiritual, para inclinar dócilmente la testuz ante el hacha que blande el verdugo”; “En cierta ocasión, escribí que no acepto otra autoridad que la que viene de Roma, hoy, ante este denigrante episodio de ignominia, en el que un hombre vestido de blanco hace frente, en soledad, a las hordas del fanatismo”. “Benedicto XVI habló de la necesidad de interrogarse sobre Dios por medio de la razón. La violencia está en contraste con la naturaleza de Dios; no actuar según la razón equivale a negar la naturaleza de Dios”.
Por el contrario, el ejército de los Muyaidines iraquí, atemorizó al Vaticano con la amenaza de perpetrar un atentado suicida contra la Santa Sede.
Sin embargo, la canciller alemana Angela Merkel expuso al rotativo “Bild” que: “Quién critica al Papa confunde la intención de su discurso”.
“Conquistaremos Roma como prometimos al Profeta”, advirtió el Consejo de los Mijaheddin, guerrilla, en cuyo seno, se encuadra Al Qaida. Por otra parte el grupo Ansar Al Sunna, dijo que “el día en que los ejércitos del Islam destruyan los muros de Roma, está cerca”. Nos hallamos ante una ´yihad´, guerra santa, mundial.
