En el pueblo de Ponteareas (Pontevedra) un aterrador acaecimiento afligió a los oriundos de estas tierras gallegas ya que un niño, de dos años, murió por inanición, y su hermana subsiste internada con síntomas de anemia. Causa horror y estremece las fibras más íntimas de nuestro ser este suceso. No es imaginable la actitud fiera o falta de corazón de la madre que abandonó al niño. Pero puestos a buscar causas, una destacaría con fuerza sobre las demás: la que mira a la educación de esa madre en los valores humanos y cívicos, vividos en toda sociedad civilizada. Por ello, cuando se socavan los fundamentos de la convivencia surge un egoísmo feroz, hedonista, materialista y se desprecian las normas morales, se está contribuyendo a que abunden casos como el ya citado. Pero somos conscientes de las trabas que la sociedad impone a esos intentos moldeadores de personalidades recias, enteras, de una pieza. La familia se ve desarbolada; la escuela, desautorizada; la autoridad legítima, escarnecida. Si la familia es la primera célula educadora de la sociedad ¿Porqué se está destruyendo?. El Gobierno debe cambiar de actitud o se demolerá la colectividad.Aquellos polvos trajeron estos lodos. No caben inhibiciones mientras no se ponga coto a la acción deformadora del primer medio hipnótico de comunicación de masas, mientras la gran ventana lívida suplante a los padres, no podremos extrañarnos de que el cubo de la basura sea la cuna para un recién nacido.Afirmaba el Abate Galiani: “el niño recibe casi toda su educación en los dos primeros años de vida; no nos apercibimos de ello porque él no sabe hablar”.

In the town of Ponteareas (Pontevedra) a frightful event afflicted to the inhabitants of this Galician land, when a child, of two years old, died by starvation and her sister subsists with symptoms of anemia in a hospital.
This event causes horror and shakes the most intimate fibers of our soul. The fierce attitude or lack of feelings of the mother who left the boy is not imaginable. But trying to look for causes, one would emphasize with force one over the others: the one that points out the education of that mother in the human and civic values of every civilized society.
Therefore, when the foundations of the coexistence are undermined, a fierce, hedonistic and materialistic egoism arise and the moral norms are despised, and this contributes that cases likes this abound. But we are conscious of the hobbles that the society imposes to those molding attempts of the stout, strong and honest personalities.
The family is itself destroyed; the school deprived of authority; the authentic authority scoffed. If the family is the first educative cell of the society, why are we destroying it?. The Government must change its attitude or the collectivity will be demolished. Those dusts brought these mud.
Inhibitions do not fit in while no boundary to the distorting action of the first hypnotic way of mass communication is placed, while the great livid window supplants the parents. We might not surprise ourselves that the garbage can is the most appropriate Moses basket for a new born. The father Galiani affirmed: “the child receives almost all his education in the first two years of life; we did not notice it because he cannot speak”.
