En junio de 1981, Michael Gotlieb divulgaba los primeros casos de Sida. Ha pasado un cuarto de siglo desde entonces. Por la congoja y sufrimiento que origina, sigue siendo demoledora para la humanidad.
Según la última declaración de la Organización Mundial de la Salud la esperanza de vida es de 32 años en Bostwana, de 29 en Malawi y de 26 en Sierra Leona.
En lo tocante a la mortandad infantil el primordial motivo es el Sida. Existen pueblos africanos con mas del 25 por ciento, de la población adulta, contagiada por la pandemia.
Por otra parte, se han originado 6 millones de contagios nuevos en 2005 y más de 3 millones de defunciones. Cada minuto se generan diez nuevas infecciones por el virus del Sida, en el universo.
El semblante mas consolador, de la historia del Sida, es el de Uganda. Este estado preparó una política de prevención, asentada en lograr cambios en la conducta sexual: estimular la abstinencia y la fidelidad, retardar el inicio de las relaciones sexuales entre la juventud y renunciar a las relaciones extramatrimoniales.
Según la investigación de US Agency for International Development, los principios clave que esclarecen este triunfo, único en África, son los siguientes: mayor esmero en la indagación, acción educativa total, promoción de la sanidad centralizada en los cambios de conducta y progresos en los servicios de transfusión sanguínea.
Los CDC de Atlanta, invariablemente, han asegurado que lo más eficaz no es el preservativo, sino la continencia y la fidelidad. Este consenso, noticiado por “The Lancet”, fue aprobado por más de 140 catedráticos de acreditadas universidades, como Harvard, Hopkins, Cambridge, París, Berkeley, California, San Francisco o Navarra, investigadores que bregan en los lugares más aquejados.

On June 1981 Michael Gotlieb divulged the first case of AIDS. Almost a quarter century has passed since then. Due to the anguish and suffering AIDS derives, it stills devastating for humanity.
According to the last comments from the World Health Organization, the life expectancy in Botswana is 32 years, in Malawi 29 and Sierra Leone 26.
In regard to the infant mortality, its main cause is AIDS. There are some African countries where 25 per cent of the adult population is infected by the epidemic.
In the other hand, 6 millions of new cases and more than 3 million deceases have been reported in 2005. In fact, every minute in the universe 10 people are infected with HIV.
The most consoling face in the history of AIDS is Uganda. This state prepared a prevention policy, based on achieving changes in the sexual behavior like promoting abstinence and faithfulness, the delay in the initiation of the sexual relations among the youth and the renunciation to extramarital relationships.
A research from the US Agency for International Development stated that the key principles which clarifies this triumph, unique in Africa, are: a greater care in the investigation, a complete educational action, promotion of care focused on changes in behavior and progress in the services for blood transfusion. Consistently, the CDC from Atlanta (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) declared that continence and faithfulness are more efficient than the use of a preservative. This consensus, divulgated in “The lancet”, was approved by most of the 140 professors from renowned universities such as Harvard, Hopkins, Cambridge, Paris, Berkeley, California, San Francisco and Navarra. This is a group of researchers which fights in the most grieved places.
